All JT Packard Field Engineers are outfitted with tool kits and a laptop computer, enabling them to quickly respond to all of your service needs. This facilitates timely scheduling and efficient performance of routine service, as well as emergency troubleshooting calls.
JT Packard annually calibrates all test equipment used by our Field Service Engineers, thereby ensuring the most accurate readings deliverable by this sophisticated test equipment.
Routinely used tools include the AEMC Model 5600 Micro-Ohmeter, the Alber Cellcorder, and the Alber Digital Hydrometer. As part of their onboarding package, JT Packard Field Engineer receive toolkits containing:
Standard hand tools, including but not limited to, ratchets and socket wrenches. |
|
Fluke 177 Multimeter: A multimeter is simply an electronic ruler for making electrical measurements. It may have any number of special features, but mainly it measures volts, ohms, and amperes. |
Fluke i410 AC/DC Current Clamp-On Meter: The current clamp uses windings around a laminated core to step-down the circuit current within the measurement range of the multimeter. This type of clamp can be used on both AC and DC circuits. |
|
Fluke 196B Oscilloscope with Software and Lead kits: The oscilloscope is a graph-displaying device, that draws a graph of an electrical signal. The graph reveals how signals fluctuate over time: the vertical (Y) axis represents voltage and the horizontal (X) axis represents time. |
Extech Model 4259 IR Thermal Scanner with Carrying Case: An infrared temperature probe measures surface temperatures of objects which are difficult to reach or unsafe to contact. It also measures hot spots in electrical panels and equipment and can take in-process temperature measurements. |
|
Cementex Torque Wrench: This wrench is used for proper tightening of battery and other critical connection points. |
Laptop Computer:
Used to download customer work orders, equipment alarm histories, and access JT Packard technical documentation. |

DC Plant Tools
JT Packard Field Engineers are outfitted with Cementex double-insulated tools for use in highly sensitive DC plant environments. These tools protect against flashover, shock, burns, and dropped tool shorts. They are tested to 10,000 VAC and rated for 1,000 VAC live line use. These tools comply with the IEC 900 standard for insulated tools. Each tool is inspected prior to use for cracks, cuts, or other damage. Should the yellow insulation become visible through the orange outer layer, the tool is removed from service immediately.
